We’ve been “playing” way too much lately; with a slew of weddings, birthdays, general summer events and our always looming renos I’ve been fairly absent as a Experimental Housewife, my apologies! So last night, with Cody in Toronto at another wedding, I channeled my single days and got crafty, I really hope you like it!
Our spare bedroom is nicer than our room at this point, and acts as my dressing room, however it’s relatively devoid of art. I had some old 16×16 square canvases that were covered in fabric from previous decor (also an easy option to create some quick art) and decided I was going to instead cover them with some sticky back shelf liner that I actually had from a previous project when I covered a steamer trunk which is now our coffee table (I’ll add that to the blog soon too). Tried this great little blend on a whim! I was feeling like treating myself and was heading towards my usual indulgence Apothic when I noticed this little gem at $14.99 (two dollars cheaper than my lovely Apothic which I also highly reccomend).
I was drawn in by the name “Red Velvet” It was everything the label claimed and more – “Over-the-top aromas of chocolate, deep dark blackberries and luscious red fruits… [blah, blah, something about palettes]… with a hint of coconut and creamy mocha.”
Surprisingly I even found a bottle sitting on the counter of my wine-snob friend’s house the next day – so that always confirms it must be good!
Sundays in the winter often call for roast dinners and cozy meals – but this summer has been busy and lazy, and most Sundays we feed ourselves by indulging in takeout. Greek is always a healthy option, so it’s usually that or sushi that makes the Sunday delivery order.

These are the easiest things I’ve ever made, and they achieved the highest appreciation! I took them to a girlfriends get together and I got so many compliments, the honest woman in me had to cave and tell everyone how easy they were. Ready!?
Step 1: buy angel food cake, strawberries, skewers and choc chips (I chose dark)
This is the only way I make them! I know it’s not entirely healthy, but it’s worth it. My boyfriend loves them and they make the perfect “Friday night in” treat.
