Tried this great little blend on a whim! I was feeling like treating myself and was heading towards my usual indulgence Apothic when I noticed this little gem at $14.99 (two dollars cheaper than my lovely Apothic which I also highly reccomend).
I was drawn in by the name “Red Velvet” It was everything the label claimed and more – “Over-the-top aromas of chocolate, deep dark blackberries and luscious red fruits… [blah, blah, something about palettes]… with a hint of coconut and creamy mocha.”
Surprisingly I even found a bottle sitting on the counter of my wine-snob friend’s house the next day – so that always confirms it must be good!
I’d bought some fresh mozzarella at the store, not sure why, but I did, so had to use it up, oh darn, eat cheese, yes please!

Last weekend while I was perusing the farm market, I grabbed 6 ears of fresh corn on the cob from the local farm behind the market. 3 for $1 so why not. In a few weeks, it’ll soon be 10 for $1, and then I go corny for corn.
I had this recipe on my pinterest board, so decided I’d try it. I made a few alterations, which I’ve marked below.
Smoky Corn Chowder with Shrimp
I was in LA a few months ago, and got on a huge mexican food thing. One might say you can
actually eat too much mexican food, but my husband and I can prove you wrong.
To top the tacos off, they suggested homemade pickles which were delicious. I’ve never made
homemade pickles before, but they were super easy. I don’t think they are authentic or anything,
but now I’m thinking I could pickle just about anything.
For you cilantro haters, you could top with parsley, but I think that’s sacrilege.
Cilantro is great, so eat it NOW!

I know, chicken and strawberries together on a bun, sounds weird, but once you bite into it, it’s delicious. I found the recipe amongst a few other burger ideas on pinterest from Women’s Health Magazine.
I had freshly picked strawberries in my fridge from the farm market and ground chicken in my freezer, so came together pretty easily.
They were really good, but next time, I think they need a bit of a kick in the actual patty, ie. red pepper flakes, cumin or a combination.
I really liked the mint combination with strawberries and balsamic. I used a balsamic reduction I had in the cupboard instead of just balsamic vinegar. Continue reading
Every Saturday ( as long as the weather is nice) I go garage saling with my mom in the ‘burbs’ of Tsawwassen. The etiquette of garage saling is that you never ever pay full price, or at least you try not to. It’s stuff you are trying to get rid of. It amazes that some people won’t sell off something that they’ve obviously decided that they no longer needed for a measly 25¢ off what they initially wanted.
This is newest pride and joy for taking leftovers to work. It is originally for Indian food and has three different sections all held together with a metal latch.
It’s easy to clean and travels great.
Best of all, there was a $3 price tag on it and I paid $1. Bargain!
